2017 Ferrari Challenge Race 1 Post-Race Update

2017 Ferrari Challenge season at Laguna Seca Raceway

RACE 1:

The first round of the 2017 Ferrari Challenge season at Laguna Seca Raceway brought great success for the Ferrari Long Island Racing Team. This event also welcomed new team drivers Joe Rubbo (458 Evo) and Jerome Jacalone (488 Challenge), joining veteran drivers Chris Cagnazzi (488 Challenge) and Joe Vitagliano (458 Evo)

Race 1: After qualifying in pole position by more than 2 seconds, Joe Rubbo led every lap in the 458 Evo Class, dominating the race and winning by 8 seconds over the remaining field. In the 488 class, Chris Cagnazzi qualified in 5th position, but unfortunately had contact with another driver in lap 1, and was unable to continue.

Jerome Jacalone qualified 8th in class, and finished in his respective position, while Joe Vitagliano held his position as well.

RACE 2:

The second race brought repeat class domination for Joe Rubbo in his 458 EVO. Qualifying on pole again by 1.5 seconds over the field, Joe got up and out way in front of the field by lap 1, and finished winning the race by almost 20 seconds on the class!

Chris Cagnazzi qualified 3rd in class, and fought a hard battle with driver Jean Claude Sauda throughout the race, finishing 3rd in class. Chris showed to be quite speedy in his class, and we anticipate him being up front every race.

Jerome Jacalone qualified 8th in class, and finished in his respective position, while Joe Vitagliano held his position as well.

The Ferrari Long Island Team also took home back-to-back “458 Coppa Team” awards for both 458 races.
